The Goa Legislators Day was celebrated today (9th January) at Secretariat, Porvorim. Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant attended the celebration organised by the Goa Legislators Forum.
Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Goa, Ramesh Tawadkar, Leader of Opposition, Yuri Alemao also graced the occasion.
Tawadkar, Alemao and others lighted the traditional lamp in the presence of ex-MLAs and ex-MPs.
Legislators of the 1st Vidhan Sabha of the ‘State’ of Goa, who served from 1989 to 1994, Victor Gonsalves, Dr. Carmo R. Pegado, Dharma Chodankar, Vinaykumar Usgaokar, Balkrishna Prabhu, Farrel Furtado, Mohan Amshekar, Dominic Fernandes, and Radharao Gracias; were felicitated on the 60th Goa Legislators Day.
Dr Sawant expressed his gratitude to the former legislators of Goa for their invaluable contributions.
“Goa’s legislators have played a pivotal role in the state’s development and the welfare of its people, leaving a legacy of service and dedication. As we embark on a new era, striving towards a ‘Swayampurna’ and ‘Viksit’ Goa, let us strengthen the democratic process by fostering greater engagement with citizens, students, professionals, and representatives of local bodies. Together, we can achieve a brighter future for our beloved state,” stated Dr Sawant.
