GOA PARA TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP 2025 WITNESSES OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES

Disability Alliance for Inclusive Goa, in association with the Para Table Tennis Committee of Goa Table Tennis Association, in collaboration with the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Goa, and Sports Authority of Goa, organised the Goa Para Table Tennis Championship 2025 on Sunday at SAG Indoor Stadium, Campal.

The one-day championship witnessed intense competition as 26 para table tennis players from across Goa competed in wheelchair and standing categories, further divided into advanced and intermediate divisions based on the severity of disability. The tournament also saw participation from five female athletes, making it an inclusive and competitive event.

In the Men’s Standing Advanced Category, Chetan Salgaonkar clinched the title with a 3-0 victory over Fleeve Andrade, while Rayansh G. Sawant secured third place. The Intermediate Category saw Niklesh Pednekar edge past Santosh Gawas in a closely-contested 3-2 match, with Govind A. Gawas taking third place.

The Men’s Wheelchair Advanced Category witnessed Lloyd Fernandes triumph over Stany D’Souza with a 3-1 win, while Gauresh Marathe finished in third place. In the Intermediate Category, Sylvester Camilo defeated Mahesh Pagadala 3-1, with Patrick D’Souza securing third place.

In the Women’s Wheelchair Category, Anupa Pilgaonkar emerged victorious against Sadaf Fatima, with Varri Triveni taking third place. The Women’s Standing Category saw Sanvi Vaigankar claim the top spot, followed by Esperança Almeida in second place.

Earlier, the inaugural function was graced by distinguished personalities Rekha D’Silva, Ashok Menon, and John Shillshi. The prize distribution ceremony was honored by Dattaprasad Palni and Amey Lawande.

Esperança Almeida and Rayansh G. Sawant were recognised as the Most Promising Players of the Championship for their outstanding performances.
