GOA STATE SAILING CHAMPIONSHIP:ADARSH CHUNEKAR, MAITHILI ASGEKAR, TANMAY CHUNEKAR, AZURRO PATRAO CLINCH GOLD

Goa Yachting Association (GYA) organised the Goa State Sailing Championship from the 12 to 14th April 2024 at Hawaii beach, Dona Paula.

Windsurfers competed in the Raceboard Category while other sailors participated in the Optimist category. The Championship was conducted under the guidance of Ram Lal, National Race officer, assisted by Arjun Singh. Strong windy conditions and massive swells on the first two days of the championship, tested the sailors to their limits.

In the Windsurfing Senior Men Category, Adarsh Chunekar won the gold medal while Anil D’souza won the silver Medal. In the windsurfing Youth Open Category, Maithili Asgekar won the gold medal. Samik Satardekar bagged silver and Nathanael Menezes clinched the bronze medal.

In the Optimist Junior Category, Tanmay Chunekar clinched gold medal ahead of Aaron D’Silva who took silver. In the Optimist Sub-Junior category, the Patrao twins won 2 medals with Azurro Patrao lifting gold medal and Zephyr Patrao bronze, while Neel Karmarkar won the silver medal. Malcolm Coelho of Dolphin Adventure Sports, was the chief guest while Matheu Gomes, former windsurfing national champion, was Guest of honour; and gave away the prizes.
