Looking to escape the ordinary and dive into something thrilling this monsoon? White water river rafting in Goa offers an unforgettable adventure that blends natural beauty with heart-pounding excitement. It’s one of the most invigorating ways to explore the state’s vibrant hinterlands while experiencing the untamed power of its monsoon-fed rivers.
The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), in collaboration with Southern River Adventures and Sports Pvt. Ltd. has launched this season’s white water rafting experience on the Mhadei River in Valpoi, reigniting an adventure that draws thousands of nature and thrill enthusiasts to Goa’s lush hinterland every year.
Set in the picturesque Sattari Taluka, the Mhadei River transforms into a roaring spectacle during the monsoon, creating the perfect setting for rafting. The 10-kilometre route features Grade II to III+ rapids—striking the ideal balance between challenge and charm. As you navigate through forested valleys, rolling hills, and rain-soaked wilderness, you’ll witness a side of Goa that’s wild, unspoiled, and exhilaratingly scenic.
This experience is designed for everyone, from first-timers and families to seasoned adventurers. Every trip is conducted under the supervision of certified guides, with thorough safety briefings and complete gear, including life jackets, helmets, and paddles. Rafts accommodate 8 to 10 participants, and the full journey lasts about 90 minutes. Changing facilities are available at the site to ensure comfort and ease.
White water rafting on the Mhadei is a responsible, eco-conscious activity. Operated under strict environmental protocols, it aligns with Goa Tourism’s flagship initiative “Goa Beyond Beaches,” which promotes sustainable, immersive experiences across the state’s hinterlands and cultural landscapes. The rafting season runs from June to September, with two daily sessions—morning and afternoon—weather permitting.

This adventure is also a featured highlight under Goa Tourism’s vibrant monsoon tourism campaign, which aims to transform the rainy season into a time of discovery and rejuvenation. As part of this, the campaign #GlowOnArrival welcomes visitors with curated experiences at Goa’s entry points, offering glimpses of Goan culture, music, culinary heritage, adventhospitality right from the moment they arrive. Together, these initiatives position Goa as a year-round destination with deeply enriching offerings beyond its coastline.
