In the run-up to World Tourism Day 2025 on 27th September 2025, the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), SKAL International Goa and the Yuva Tourism Clubs, have curated an extensive series of activities throughout September.
This programme highlights Goa’s ongoing commitment to regenerative and experiential tourism by bringing to life its heritage, biodiversity, local communities and culinary traditions.
Speaking about the celebration, Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte said: “World Tourism Day celebrates the power of tourism to create positive change. By partnering with TTAG, SKAL and the Yuva Tourism Club, we are not only showcasing Goa’s unique experiences but also nurturing a culture of responsible tourism among our youth who are the future Tourism Ambassadors. This is how Goa positions itself as a year-round destination for authentic, high-quality experiences.”
Adding to the initiative, Director of Tourism Kedar Naik said: “These activities represent a holistic approach to tourism development. By combining heritage walks, nature trails, culinary sessions, inclusive cruises and new initiatives, we are ensuring that tourism in Goa is sustainable, inclusive and future-ready. This collaborative effort is aimed at attracting visitors and also enriching local communities and empowering the next generation.”
On the public front, visitors and residents can look forward to a wide range of experiences including the Bioluminescence Forest Walk on 17th September, Cruise & Kayaking Trail on 18th September, Picnic by Forest Stream at Folgar on 19th September, Retracing Monte Santo – Holy Hill Heritage Walk on 20th September, Evening River Cruise Boat on 21st September, Electric Cycle Tour at Chorao on 21st September), Aguad Heritage Walk on 21st September, Life of Pao – Bread Making Experience on 22nd September and the Mulgao Folk Village and Coconut Farming Experience on 24th September.
At the same time, through the Yuva Tourism Club across Goa, these activities are being extended to students in schools and colleges across the state to build awareness and interest in responsible travel among the youth. The week started with the Uncover the Hidden Treasures of Old Goa on 13th September, which will be followed by the Electric Cycle Tour and the Life of Pao – Bread Making Experience on 16th September, Cruise & Kayaking Trail and an evening River Cruise Boat on 19th September, Aguad Heritage Walk on 20th September, Biodiversity Walk at Carambolim Lake on 23rd September, Picnic by Forest Stream on 24th September and Mulgao Folk Village and Coconut Farming Experience on 25th September.
Adding a culinary dimension, the Department of Tourism will also host Cooking Competitions at IIHM Goa on 17th & 18th September 2025 and IHM Goa on 22nd & 23rd September 2025, offering students and participants an opportunity to explore Goa’s vibrant and diverse food culture.
The week of World Tourism Day will also feature inclusive and high-impact events: On 26th September, a special Boat Cruise will be organised for Persons with Disabilities, senior citizens from old age homes and children from orphanages, highlighting the state’s commitment to inclusive tourism. On 27th September, a dedicated Boat Cruise will welcome special children from Rotary along with their teachers and staff.
Also on 27th September, The Department of Tourism will host the largest Tourism Stakeholders’ Meet at Grand Hyatt Goa. The event will see the presentation of the Vincent Ramos Scholarship and the launch of MICE Tourism promotion in Goa, including the formal announcement of a MICE Promotion Bureau specific to the state. On 28th September, a one-day Film Festival will be organised at ESG showcasing the heritage of Goa with a focus on conservation and sustainability, marking an end to the World Tourism Day month long celebrations.
The Department of Tourism invites the public, students, tourism stakeholders and visitors alike to participate in these events and experience Goa through a fresh and meaningful lens as the state gears up for World Tourism Day celebrations.
