PANAJI: Goan midfielder Michel Margaret Castanha and striker Karishma Purushottam Shirvoikar have been selected for senior women’s national football camp in view of the AFC Asian Championship 2022, informed the Goa Football Association on Saturday. The residential camp with 30 probables, will be held in Goa from December 1, 2020 to January 15, 2021.
Karishma had played for PVC Parra in the Vendata Women’s Football League while Michel had represented Churchill Brothers.
GFA President, Churchill Alemao congratulated the two Goan girls for being selected and hoped they earn a place in the India squad for the AFC Championship. “It is a proud moment for Goan women’s football,” stated Alemao.
“We are proud of her as well as Michel as both of them kept the Goa women’s football flag flying high and brought honour and glory to the state. He hoped that both talented players would earn a place in the India squad. It is a great motivation to women’s football,” said Gregory D’Souza, general secretary of PVC Parra and GFA Executive Committee member.
