GVM’s Utkarsh Vidyamandir conducted their Annual Sports Meet 2022-2023 and prize distribution, recently at Ponda sports complex. Students were encouraged to develop all-round skills and the achievers were presented with trophies.
Niraj N. Prabhu, Founder of positive news startup web-channel www.livenewsgoa.com, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of President of General Body, Bhaskar Khandeparkar; Chairman of the Working Committee of GVM’s, Krishna Shetye; Administrator of Utkarsh Vidyamandir, Srabonee Thakar; Principal, Indrani Banerjee; Physical Education teacher Nikesh Prabhu, PTA Chairperson Dr. Akshata Pandey; teachers, students and parents.
The ‘Sports Day’ started off with the march-past with all four houses – Yellow, Green, Red and Blue, trying to put their best foot forward with the eye on the top placings.
Head boy Aditya Bingekar and the Head girl Rida Khalif led the march-past troop graciously. Devdatta Kerkar, Praveen More and Pandurang Naik were the judges of the march-past. It was followed by the lighting of the torch by the Chief Guest and the flame was carried by the national and state level players of the school. After the completion of the torch relay all students of Utkarsh Vidyamandir took the oath of the ‘Sports Day’ to uphold sportsman’s spirit. Two national and 23 state-level players were felicitated on the occasion.
Various athletic events’ finals were conducted during the day. Other highlights of the day were the yoga display, karate and zumba demonstration. Individual and Team Championships were awarded.
Green House was declared the winner of the Annual Sports Meet 2022-2023, while Red House was the runner-up.
