SPORTS AUTHORITY OF GOA: GOA PARALYMPIC ASSOCIATION GRANTED PERMANENT RECOGNITION STATUS

Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) has granted permanent recognition to the Goa Paralympic Association (GPA) with effect from 9th July 2026, marking a significant milestone for para sports in the state, states a press note by SAG.

The recognition was conveyed through an official communication issued by Dr. Ajay R. Gaude, Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa, following the successful completion of the prescribed three-year provisional recognition period and compliance with the guidelines laid down by the SAG.

The letter, issued in response to the Goa Paralympic Association’s application, states that the Association has fulfilled the required conditions and is now recognised as the State Sports Association for Paralympic sports on a permanent basis.

Sports Authority of Goa has also directed the Association to continue adhering to all rules, regulations, guidelines, and directions issued by the SAG. It further stated that the permanent recognition is subject to continued compliance and may be withdrawn in the event of any violation of the prescribed norms.

The recognition is expected to strengthen the promotion and development of para sports in Goa and provide a boost to athletes preparing for State, National, and International competitions.

Goa Paralympic Association has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, and Minister for Sports, Dr. Ramesh Tawadkar, for their unwavering support and encouragement towards the development of para sports in the State. Goa Paralympic Association also thanked the Government of Goa and the Sports Authority of Goa for granting permanent recognition, describing it as a landmark achievement that will further strengthen and promote para-sports across Goa.
