Goa’s healthcare witnessed a progressive approach and as such, the standard of the health services was raised by a few notches in the Year 2024.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane asserted that Goa remains poised to build on this momentum, promising innovative strategies and enhanced initiatives to sustain its position as a beacon of hope and health for the nation, with the arrival of New Year 2025 is a few days away.

“In 2024, Goa has set remarkable benchmarks in healthcare, earning the No. 1 spot on the NACO Scorecard for AIDS/HIV management for April–June 2024. This achievement reflects the state’s steadfast commitment to public health, excelling in key indicators such as HIV testing, maternal screening, STI/RTI reporting, HRG coverage and early infant diagnosis. With strengthened ICTCs, advanced ART centres and enhanced STI/RTI clinics at GMC, Goa has emerged as a leader in healthcare excellence,” underlined the Health Minister.

Rane further assessed the remarkable Project Parivartan 2024 with its inception setting the stage for a transformative approach to infection prevention and control in Goa’s healthcare facilities.

“In 2025, the project will advance these efforts by reducing healthcare – associated infections, optimising antibiotic use and implementing Antimicrobial Stewardship.

“With Pfizer India’s collaboration, it will equip medical teams with training and tools to ensure safer healthcare environments, significantly improving patient outcomes across Goa’s public health system,” informed the Health Minister.

A team of Tata consultants from the Gynecologic Oncology Disease Management Group, meanwhile visited GMC.

“They engaged in a series of impactful academic and clinical activities. The visit included a CME event focused on the latest standards in ovarian cancer care, featuring insightful lectures on pathology, surgical approaches, and medical management. This enriching exchange highlights our commitment to advancing oncology care and education at GMC,” emphasised Rane.
