HIGHEST MEDAL TALLY ALREADY REGISTERED, HOSTS GOA DREAM BIG AT 37TH NATIONAL GAMES GOA 2023

Goa begin their charge at the 37th National Games Goa 2023 on Sunday with their highest haul of Games medals already in their kitty at 21 – counting one gold medal, four silver medals and 16 bronze medals.

Goa have broken their record of 11 medals won at National Games Kerala in 2015.

Meanwhile, the hosts have made a dominant beginning in beach football competition at Colva beach. Goa made a confident start against Punjab this morning with 6-1 lead at half time, before completing a mammoth 19-5 victory. In the opening match, the hosts had thrashed Odisha 12-3. The hosts have thus stormed into the semi-finals from Group B.

Goan players are also in action today in the table tennis and swimming events at Manohar Parrikar Sports Complex, Campal.

Goa’s Pencak Silat team has been performing admirably throughout the competition. Kareena Shirodkar will be in action today in women’s 85kg event final. Two more medals are assured as Sagar Palconda and Samrata Gawande have made it to the semis. Earlier, Ganpatrao Desai, Chloe Furtado, Asha Naik and Irfaan Khan lost in the semi-finals.
