ICAR-CCARI COMMITTED TO ADVANCING AQUACULTURE IN GOA

A one-day Aquaculture training and demonstration programme, was organised at the Fisheries Section of ICAR-CCARI in Goa, jointly co-ordinated with KVK South Goa recently.

The session attended by 32 participants, aimed to enrich their knowledge in aquaculture. Trivesh S. Mayekar, Scientist, delivered an in-depth overview of commercially significant aquaculture species in India, including demonstrations on Indian major carp culture, Tilapia culture, Pangasius culture, and Asian Seabass polyculture, covering aspects such as water quality and feeding management.

The participants also received training on diverse ornamental fish species, feeding practices, health management, breeding techniques, and seed production. Additionally, a lecture on Asian Seabass culture methodologies was delivered.

The programme underscored ICAR-CCARI’s commitment to supporting fish culture knowledge sharing and advancing aquaculture in Goa. Trivesh Suresh Mayekar co-ordinated the programme, along with Dr. Sreekanth G. B., Mr. B. Bjoy Borges, and Melbin Lal from ICAR-CCARI.
