ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Water Resources Development and Management (KSCSTE-CWDRM), Kozhikode, Kerala, for carrying out collaborative research on the aspects of sustainable land and water resource development and management in the West Coast region.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, emphasised that this association will help in conducting collaborative research on climate-resilient land and water resource management technologies in the West Coast region by bringing together scientists of ICAR-CCARI and CWRDM.
Dr. Manoj P. Samuel, Executive Director, CWRDM, expressed his gratitude to the Director and team of ICAR-CCARI for this great initiative. He has also highlighted that the CWRDM will provide all technical support to ICAR-CCARI to conduct research and extension activities related to water management in the state of Kerala.
Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, was also the chief guest on the occasion of World Environment Day celebrated on 5th June at CWRDM. On this occasion, he also inaugurated the two weeks High-End Workshop (KARYASHALA) on “Hyperspectral Sensing for Agriculture and Water Resources Management” being organised by CWRDM. Dr. Parveen Kumar in his address highlighted the objective of signing MoU between the two organisations and stressed upon the importance of land restoration and creating drought resilience for natural resource conservation in the coastal region. Dr. Sujeet Desai, Scientist (LWME), also attended the programme.
