Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Ltd. (IPSCDL), in collaboration with the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), Tree Care India (Environmental Services) and the Goa State Biodiversity Board, will organize an Urban Tree Management Workshop on November 22, 2024. This unique event aims to engage and empower local residents, urban planners and environmental enthusiasts with practical knowledge and skills for urban tree care, fostering a more resilient and greener future for Panaji.
The workshop will take place at Dr. F.L. Gomes Garden on Dayanand Bandodkar Marg Panaji, running from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in live demonstrations, explore informative stalls and attend sessions led by experts in arboriculture and urban biodiversity. With a hands-on approach, participants will learn tree health assessments, safe pruning techniques, pest management and planting tips for nurturing trees in urban landscapes.
IPSCDL invites all the people of Panaji and all tree lovers to participate in this daylong workshop. “This Urban Tree management Workshop aligns with IPSCDL’s vision of a sustainable, ecologically balanced Panaji. By fostering hands-on community involvement in urban forestry, IPSCDL aims to deepen residents’ connection to the city’s green infrastructure, supporting the well-being of both the natural environment and the community at large said Senior Official of IPSCDL. “Our goal with this workshop is to equip Panaji’s residents with the knowledge and tools needed to care for urban trees, fostering a greener and more sustainable capital city”.
Urban Tree Workshop Highlights:
The full-day workshop emphasizes the essential role of urban trees in enhancing Panaji’s air quality, mitigating urban heat and supporting biodiversity. Participants are encouraged to engage with local experts, including arborists and ecologists, who will offer tailored advice for those interested in contributing to the city’s green spaces. IPSCDL will also hold a demo of its Tree Module Application — a mobile application designed to assist citizens in monitoring and supporting Panaji’s urban greenery. Additional attractions include nursery stalls where visitors can browse a variety of saplings, tree species and gardening equipments.
