INAUGURAL EDITION OF BANDODKAR PANJIM GYMKHANA OPEN TENNIS TOURNAMENT TO BEGIN ON 1ST APRIL

More than 140 players have registered to participate in the inaugural edition of the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Open 2024 state-level ranking tennis tournament, set to commence on April 1 at the Panjim Gymkhana courts, Panaji. The tournament is being supported by the Goa State Tennis Association and DB Bandodkar & Sons group. The tournament will conclude on April 7.

There are 37 participants in the under-14 category, with 25 boys and 12 girls signing up for the event.

In the under-18 category, 16 boys and 11 girls have registered. 18 pairs have registered for the mixed doubles category, while 20 pairs have registered in the men’s doubles event. In the women’s and men’s singles events, there are 15 and 50 registrations respectively.

In the veterans’ segment, 14 registrations have been received for the veterans 45+ singles, while 12 pairs have registered for the veteran’s 45+ doubles category. 12 others have signed up for the veterans 55+ singles event and six teams entering the veterans 55+ doubles fray.

“The first edition of the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Open 2024 has garnered a great response, indicating the growing interest in tennis within our Goan community. We aspire that tennis will soon be deeply ingrained in Goa’s sporting culture,” says Sameer Kakodkar, grandson of the state’s first chief minister, Bhausaheb Bandodkar; and Director at the DB Bandodkar & Sons Group.
