Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in the presence of Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, graced the inauguration ceremony marking the commencement of work of installation of statues of Acharya Charaka, revered as the ‘Father of Ayurveda’, and Sage Sushruta, also known as ‘Father of Surgery’ at Raj Bhavan in Dona Paula today.
The initiative is a part of the “Vaman Vriksha Kala Udyan (Bonsai Garden)” and Indian Medicinal Heritage, organised by Raj Bhavan Goa at the Raj Bhavan lawns/Old Durbar Hall. First Lady, Rita S.Pillai, Secretary to Governor, M. R. M Rao, IAS, Vice Chancellor Goa University, Harilal B. Menon, Special officer to Governor, R. Mihir Vardhan, IAS (Retd.) were also present.
On this occasion, cheques were presented to the cancer patients through the Discretionary Funds of the Governor; at the hands of the Chief Minister. Dr Sawant also inaugurated the renovated Swimming Pool & Changing Room at Raj Bhavan.
