PANAJI: Co-Founders of www.jobdeskgoa.in, Shrinivas Joshi and Harish Sinai Velingkar are on a mission to ‘increase the employability of our fellow Goans’ through vacancies generated by the Goan employers. Through their unique job-search portal, the job-seekers can maintain composure with the confidence that an expert team is at work to come up with the right options. Moreover, the portal also has sophisticated yet simple features to ease out the concerns of the unemployed.
Positive news digital media startup ‘Livenewsgoa.com‘ caught up with the partner duo of Shrinivas and Harish to know more about the Goan job-search venture www.jobdeskgoa.in
Says co-founder Shrinivas Joshi: “JobDesk is Goa’s very own Job Search Engine! The sole aim of the portal is to get together all the job openings from all possible fronts of the industrial ecosystem on one single platform in a very organised form. We sort the vacancies from among, over 25 different sectors, so the users can just login and select the sector of their choice and all the relevant vacancies will be displayed.”
Revealing the striking features of the portal, Harish Velingkar, co-founder, explained the operations. “Once the user has made an account with us and has subscribed to our services, the user can view unlimited vacancies over one year and apply directly with the employer. All these job vacancies will be from Goan employers. The user can search for the vacancies using keywords or select appropriate sectors. The vacancies on the portal have a short expiry period and hence the subscribers will be able to see only the latest live job vacancies in Goa. The subscribed users can get job alerts based on the keywords set. For example, if you are searching for a job in Computer Engineering, all you need to do is click on the job alerts tab and set appropriate keywords like Software, Computer , Engineering etc. Whenever our team posts a vacancy with any of these keywords, you will be notified on your mail. There are features where you can make your own CV in case you don’t have one. Incase you have a CV ready, feel free to upload it on the tab provided on the front page of the website. Many a times companies do approach us looking for candidates. We will be more than happy to share across the right CVs to the employers. The website has a nominal subscription of Rs.199 per year , after which the user will be able to avail all the above services for a period of one year. We do not charge for advertising the vacancies as we want maximum employers across Goa to share their vacancies with us,” said Harish.
A sustained response to their social media initiative of bridging the gap between Goan job-seekers and employers, beginning from 2017, eventually inspired Shrinivas and Harish to launch a full-fledged job search portal.
“JobDesk began as a Whatsapp group in the year 2017. Myself and Harish have been managing the Training and Placement Cell at Agnel Institute of Technology & Design, Assagao. As we came in contact with a lot of industries in and around Goa, we realised that there are a lot of job opportunities out there one can look out for. However, these opportunities are scattered over different platforms and sources of digital and print media that there are chances one could easily miss out on them. We formed a WhatsApp group somewhere in September 2017 and added some job seekers with varying educational qualifications along with many job providers, HRs and owners of many companies in Goa. The group was an instant hit. We saw a lot of vacancies being floated on this group and the candidates could directly apply to these vacancies. Due to the overwhelming response, we started multiple such groups and started cross sharing the vacancies across these groups and also across various sections of digital media including our personal social media accounts in the form of stories and posts, LinkedIn etc. We are proud to say they we have an audience of more than 15000+ people across all our platforms. As the years progressed, we started receiving a lot of CVs / Biodata on our personal chats and messages. We all can agree that unemployment is one of the toughest phases in a person’s life and we thoroughly wish and pray no one has to go through it. We thought it is our duty to come up with a solution to this and to give this whole initiative of JobDesk a much more organised form. Hence we decided to launch Goa’s very own job search portal www.jobdeskgoa.in,“ added Shrinivas.
The company has been showered with praises from the employers and the response overall, has been overwhelming, emphasised Harish. “Currently we are mainly focussing on getting as many job vacancies on the portal as possible so that maximum people are benefitted. The response has been really overwhelming. We wholeheartedly thank the people of Goa and the entire industrial ecosystem of Goa for supporting us through this initiative which started 4 years ago in the form of few social media groups. Their continuous support has been our strength. We have received a lot of good wishes from our well-wishers, who have closely monitored our work over the years. The portal is being visited by a lot of people, many of them have already applied for multiple positions. We hope our effort helps towards increasing the employability of our fellow Goans. The employers have been getting a tremendous response after advertising vacancies with us, and we urge to bring out as many vacancies as possible so that it benefits the people at large. I will say something like this was the need of the hour. The real success of the portal will lie on the number of people getting jobs via the vacancies advertised. That’s all we work for,” he asserted.
