PANAJI: Karuna Football Foundation which runs Goa Football Association-registered
Compassion Football Club, will conduct selection trials for girls from Goa; on Tuesday (20th July 2021) from 10am at the Artificial football turf at Fatorda, stated a press release.
Girls from Std VIth to Xth are eligible for the trials for ‘National Residential Girls Football Academy’ in collaboration with the Apostolic Carmel sisters at the Holy Rosary Convent High School-Nuvem, further stated the press communique emailed by Kennedy D’Silva.
According to the press note, Karuna Football Foundation has been established to reach out mainly to the underprivileged and marginalised community boys and girls; and have been serving children from the orphanages, slums and streets of Goa. “Girls who are wanting to make a career through football have an excellent opportunity as the GFA and AIFF have been working towards the promotion of girls and women football in the past few years,” added the statement.
The foundation also claimed that a European woman has been named Technical Director of the academy and it is also on the lookout for good women coaches with a minimum of C License, to be her staff.
Meanwhile, Compassion FC girls had participated in the 4th Vedanta-GFA Women’s Football League. The team comprised of girls from rural areas like Dabhal, Savoi Verem, Valpoi, Mayem, Pernem etc.
