Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant launched the Lighthouse Project for Plastic under the CSR initiative of Mondelez International in association with Goa State Pollution Control Board and Anubhuti Welfare Foundation.
Environment & Law Minister Aleixo Sequeira, President of Mondelez International Samir Jain were also present among others.
The ‘Lighthouse Project for Plastic’ aims to transform the waste management in Mapusa with a focus on circularity in plastic waste management.
“Our Govt is set to launch DRS scheme where one will get paid for returning and depositing used plastic bottles. Our Govt is the first to set up Dedicated Waste Management Ministry and established state of the art waste management plants in the state,” emphasised the Chief Minister.
Dr Sawant also felicitated students and citizens for their contribution with Community Change Award, Environmental Stewardship Award, Green Guardian Award, Swachhata Yoddha Award.
