MANOHAR PARRIKAR YUVA SCIENTIST AWARD 2025 GOES TO DR. SAI GAUTAM GOPALAKRISHNAN

Dr. Sai Gautam Gopalakrishnan of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, will be the recipient of Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award 2025, announced the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday evening. The award will be presented at Manohar Parrikar Vigyan Mahotsav at NIO Goa in December.

Dr. Sai Gautam Gopalakrishnan is an Associate Professor of Materials Engineering at IISc Bengaluru. He leads a research group in computational materials science.

In his social media post, the Chief Minister shared that applications for the prestigious award were received from top research institutes across the country. There were 50 applicants out of which 10 were shortlisted for personal interview and after intense scrutiny by an expert committee headed by Dr. Anil Kakodkar the final recipient was selected.

“This award is a one of a kind initiative of the Government of Goa launched to motivate young scientific minds in Goa and across the country to excel in Science and benefit humanity at a large scale,” emphasised Dr Sawant.

The award comprises of 5 lakhs rupees and a citation, which is currently the highest cash prize in science and technology in the country.
