In a significant move towards enhancing mobility and independence for persons with disabilities, the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities handed over a Neo Motion Motorised Wheelchair to Salil Mahale. The handover was held in the presence of Subhash Phal Dessai, Minister for DEPwD, Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Varsha Naik, Director – Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Taha Haaziq, Secretary – Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, stated “Empowering persons with disabilities through improved mobility and accessibility is a key priority for our office. The provision of this motorised wheelchair to Salil Mahale is a step towards enhancing independence and ensuring a better quality of life. We remain committed to fostering inclusivity and providing the necessary support to enable persons with disabilities to lead empowered lives.”
Expressing his gratitude, Salil Mahale stated that “I am deeply thankful to the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, especially Shri. Guruprasad Pawaskar, for this generous gift. This motorised wheelchair has greatly enhanced my mobility and independence, allowing me to fully embrace my daily activities with confidence.
