Goa witnessed ‘Operation Abhyaas’ as part of the nationwide Civil Defence preparedness initiative carried out at 244 locations across the country on Wednesday.
Both districts of Goa, North and South Goa were part of the drill. The Civil Defence Mock Drill was held in North Goa at Panaji Ferry Wharf.
The situation for the mock drill at the Ferry Wharf was the collapse of the Mandovi Bridge and tested various line departments and agencies in search and rescue operations, evacuation plans, mass casualty management with the involvement of civil defence volunteers among others.
The operations in North Goa were supervised by the District Collector, North Goa, Yashaswini B, IAS, in coordination with Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Health Services, National Cadet Corps, National Social Service, District Disaster Management Authority, North Goa, Civil Defence Volunteers and other allied response agencies.
A multi-agency mock drill, Operation Abhyaas, was conducted at NIWS Caranzalem & nearby residential areas by the North Collectorate. The exercise included an air raid blackout operation, evacuation, siren alerts, search & rescue & fire response.



Civil Defence, NCC, NSS, Aapda Mitra, volunteers, and various government departments participated. Dy. Collector (DRO), Ishwar Madkaikar acted as the Incident Commander.

Mock drill simulating Air Strike at Margao Railway station, was conducted wherein several casualties and fire incident were depicted & rescue operations held involving the Civil Defence team, Fire Emergency Services, Health Services, NCC cadets, Police & other rescue teams.
