The Government of Goa and Department of Water Resources are on drive to increase availability and conservation of raw water by identifying new sites for a dam and increase the water storage in the state, informed a press communique by the Information Department.
According to the press note, people of Dharbandora whose land will be submerged in the dam area; today gave their willingness to have Kajumal – Tatodi Dam in the areas where there is plenty of rains and water.
“Rajendra Naik has given maximum land for the dam and provided all the courtesy to hold the meeting at his Rasraj Farms, a fully organic produce farm. About forty people having land holding were present for the meeting conducted by the WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar and Dr Ganesh Gaonkar, MLA and Chairman of Goa Tourism Development Corporation. Dilip Naik, SE WRD, Lilesh Khandeparker EE , WRD; and Damodar Prabhu Desai AE, WRD, were present, ” further says the press communique.
The minister assured the affected people to give all help to solve their greivances including providing housing, construction of retaining walls, small bunds in the affected areas. A strategic plan was prepared to see that all the people having the land should get maximum compensation and relief from the Government on completion of procedures and formalities required. It is proposed to complete the dam by December 2025 with the co-operation of all the stakeholders.
