The Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Goa, Incubees and knowledge partner Atal Incubation Centre – Goa Institute of Management Foundation, on Monday, announced the launch of ‘Purple Fest Accessibility Hackathon’. This is Goa’s first nation-wide hackathon focused on disability sector.
The objective of the Purple Fest Accessibility Hackathon is to encourage innovators, students, technologist, IT startups and entrepreneurs to develop solutions and support systems that address the everyday challenges faced by persons with disabilities.
“Technology has been one of the greatest allies for PwDs. It has generated empowering solutions that overcome obstacles surrounding accessibility.
So, come be a part of this revolution. Drive the engines of change at the Purple Fest Accessibility Hackathon”, said Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.
“Innovations needs to provide solutions to societal needs in order to deal with challenges faced by people with disabilities. Incubees believes that persons with disabilities are assets to our society and with innovative technology we can build an inclusive society for persons with disabilities where they can work and live with less strain. The aim of the Hackathon is to find solutions,” said Savio Rodrigues, Founder, Incubees.
Abhishek Singh, Incubation Manager, AIC GIM Foundation informed that the winners will be decided based on the novelty, feasibility, sustainability, and viability of the idea. All shortlisted applications will be provided with access to finances, a pilot opportunity, mentorship, Go to Market assistance, and incubation services. The demo-day is scheduled for January 6th, 2023 at the Purple Fest.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE?
•To register for the Purple Fest Startup Hackathon, sign up at https://www.aicgim.in/purplefest.
•There is no registration fee, and participants can register either as individuals or as a team.
•Each individual/team can submit only one project.
•The project must include information about the participant(s), the problem they aim to solve, and a detailed description of their proposed solution.
•The last date for submission is 30th December 2022.
