PURPLE FEST: ALL-INDIA PARA-TT, INTER-STATE BLIND CRICKET & ‘DEAF INDIA 2023’ ANNOUNCED

All India Para Table Tennis Open Championship Goa, the Inter-state Blind Cricket Tournament and the 10th Miss and Mister Deaf India 2023; will be held in Goa, in the month of January as part of the Purple Fest. This was announced by Subhash Phaldessai, Minister for Social Welfare on Friday.

“The three events organised in the state will be the first-ever national level championships for persons with disabilities hosted by the Government of Goa”, he added.

He was speaking at the press conference organised at Secretariat, Porvorim. Also present were Guruprasad Pawaskar, the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Taha Haaziq, Secretary, Office of the State Commissioner for persons with disabilities, Subhash Chandra, Secretary, Social Welfare, Sandhya Kamat, Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, Dr. Ketan Bhatikar, Member, Goa Cricket Association, Sudesh Gaude, Assistant Professor in Psychiatric Social Work at IPHB and Rahul Cuncoliekar, Goa Association of the Deaf.

Sudesh Gaude said, “All India Para Table Tennis Open Championship Goa- 2023 will take place from 6th to 7th January at Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, SAG, Campal Panaji Goa. It is jointly organised by the Goa State Commission for PwDs, Directorate of Social Welfare, Sports Authority of Goa and Geno Pharmaceuticals. The deadline for registering for the tournament is 15th December 2022.  For registration and more information, visit https://scpwd.goa.gov.in/.”

Dr. Ketan Bhatikar informed that the Interstate Blind Cricket Tournament will be held from the 4th of January to the 7th of January at Goa Cricket Association ground, Porvorim. It is jointly organised by the Goa State Commission for persons with disabilities and Goa Cricket Association.

Rahul Cuncoliekar said, “The 10th Miss and Mister Deaf India –2023 will be held from the 6th to the 8th of January, 2023 in Panaji. It is jointly organised by the Goa State Commission for persons with disabilities, All India Deaf Arts and Cultural Society and Goa Association of the Deaf.
