Panaji-based Vishant Nagvekar has been selected as a Purple Ambassador for the fast-approaching International Purple Fest Goa 2024, kicking off on January 8 in Panaji.
Vishant, who hails from Mayem in Bicholim taluka, is delighted with the honour of being named Purple Ambassador for the International event, as he brought into realisation the powerful phrase ‘Sky is the limit’ for a hardworking, talented person.
Nagvekar had played a major role as a member of the organizing committee in the inaugural Purple Fest in 2023. He performed the traditional ‘Gof,’ a traditional and culturally-significant Goan dance form, on a wheelchair with his colleagues with disabilities. He even organised an all inclusive fashion show comprising of models who were persons with disabilities and their able-bodied colleagues.
A team headed by Vishant also organised an all-India para table tennis competition, which saw a great participation of 117 players from various states. Vishant has won two silver medals at state level para table tennis competition, two silver medals at district level competition in the same sport and two silver medals in para badminton on district level. Nagvekar even participated in para table tennis competition on a national level. Vishant is handling additional responsibility as a member of the advisory committee of the Goa State Disability Commissioner office at Porvorim. He is working at Planning and Statistics Department in Panaji.
Vishant says that the world must not see a person with disability with a negative approach or even sympathy, but accept him or her as one of their own or a normal individual in the society.
With his excellent ability to take on the challenges and deliver the results, Vishant has thus inspired many a persons to work hard and aim for the sky!
