SPINAL CORD REHAB CENTRE & PM DIVYANSH KENDRA ARE STEPS TOWARDS INCLUSIVE SOCIETY: DR. PRAMOD SAWANT

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant visited the ongoing International Purple Fest Goa 2024 on Friday morning. He was accompanied by Minister for Social Welfare Subhash Phal Dessai and State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Guruprasad Pawaskar. He interacted with participants and organisers of the fest, terming it a proud moment for Goa to  be hosting it.

“I am proud to have the participation of 17 countries here. The opening of Spinal Cord Rehab Centre and Pradhanmantri Divyansh Kendra at GMC are two steps forward to create an inclusive society,” Sawant said.

He added that there is a need to have representation from Persons with Disabilities in mainstream politics too, besides them already excelling in other fields.

Sawant went on to highlight that there is a challenge in accuracy of data collection of Persons with Disabilities, which is crucial and need assistance of the public, in better framing of policies. “It enables the policy-makers stake holders and advocates to understand the diverse experiences faced by Persons with Disabilities (PwD’s), address issues, and formulate better interventions.”
