Sporting Clube de Goa clinched their third consecutive Goa Professional League title on Monday, defeating Calangute Association 3-1 at the Poriat Ground.

With this victory, the Flaming Oranje become the first club in the league’s history to secure a hat-trick of consecutive titles, marking their ninth championship win overall.

The title-winning performance was led by striker Doyal Alves, who netted a hat-trick to guide his side to victory. Sporting maintained pressure from the opening whistle, with Alves hitting the woodwork in the 11th minute and Austin Fernandes narrowly missing a chance from the left shortly after.

Alves struck the post again in the 39th minute as Sporting controlled the first-half tempo. The breakthrough came in the 47th minute. Antush Moniz fired a shot from the right flank that the Calangute custodian was unable to hold firmly. Alves was positioned perfectly to capitalize on the spilled ball, putting Sporting ahead 1-0.

Alves doubled the lead in the 50th minute with a strike from inside the area and completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute after being set up by a cross from Moniz. Calangute Association added a goal in the 94th minute through Nigel Silveira, but the match ended shortly after to confirm Sporting as champions.

By securing three titles in a row, Sporting Clube de Goa remains the most consistent side in the state’s top-tier football league. The team will return home to Duler Stadium on April 30 for their next match against FC Goa.
