Salcete Taluka Chess Association will organise U-7 State Chess Championship-cum-Selection at Nehru Stadium, Media Centre (West side) on 25th and 26th April 2026 under the aegis of Goa Chess Association.
The top 5 players in the Open category and top 2 players in the Girls category will be selected to represent Goa in the Under-7 National Chess Championship to be conducted in Maharashtra from 7th to 11th June 2026.
Players who are born and after 2019, can participate in the tournament. The total cash prize is Rs. 5,000 in Open and Girls Category; along with trophies for the top 3 players. Goa has reaped great results at the Nationals over the last two years. In 2024, Goan player Prayank Gaonkar who had come 2nd in this tournament, secured the Silver medal for Goa at the National-level. Evan Antonio Telles who had won this tournament last year, went on to clinch the Gold medal at the Nationals. And expectations are building for the tradition to continue!
