Sporting Clube de Goa travel north to face Delhi Football Club at the Minerva Academy Ground in Mohali on Monday, April 20. Following a 1-0 victory in their last outing, the Flaming Oranje currently occupy third place in the I-League 2 standings and remain within striking distance of the top spot.
The team has secured seven points from their last three matches. The recent win against Sudeva Delhi FC was defined by tactical patience and defensive discipline, traits that assistant coach of Sporting Clube de Goa, Savio Vaz expects to be tested again in Punjab.
“The recent results have put us in a strong position,” Savio Vaz said. “Being third on the table is a solid platform, but the focus is on the top. This match in Mohali requires high concentration. Delhi FC are a competitive side, and playing away from home always demands a clinical performance.”
Sporting Clube de Goa remain unbeaten in their away fixtures this season, having picked up results in both Manipur and Assam. The defensive unit has conceded only once in the last three games, providing a stable foundation for the side’s attacking play.
“Our objective is to remain aggressive for the full 90 minutes,” Savio Vaz added. “In a league this tight, consistency is what separates the top teams. We go into Monday with a clear plan to execute and the intention to return home with all three points.”
With the promotion race intensifying, a victory at the Minerva Academy Ground would be a major step toward the summit of the table. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 PM kick-off.
