STATE COMMISSION FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES: GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL OFFICERS’ SENSITISATION WORKSHOP CONDUCTED

PANAJI: As part of its efforts to improve the lives of people with disabilities, the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities conducted a sensitisation workshop for Grievance Redressal Officers of all departments across the state.

There were over 100 Grievance Redressal Officers present at the workshop. The training was led by Taha Haaziq, secretary, Office of the State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, who also provided an overview of the RPwD Act, 2016, as well as explained roles and responsibilities of Grievance Redressal Officers.

Haaziq said, “Section 23 of the RPwD Act, 2016 mandates the appointment of a Grievance Redressal Officer in every government department. Their role is to work with the department head to find solutions to problems experienced by employees with disabilities”.

The training was the first of its kind in the state for the Grievance Redressal Officers for PwDs, and the workshop received a resoundingly positive response from them, states a press release.
