THE PURPLE FEST 2023: GOA STATE COMMISSION FOR PwD OPENS REGISTRATION FOR INCLUSIVE FESTIVAL

PANAJI: The Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities has announced the opening of registrations for its first-ever inclusive festival ‘The Purple Fest’, which will be held from January 6th to 8th, 2023.

While addressing the media on Monday at Secretariat, Porvorim; Subhash Phaldessai, Minister for Social Welfare said: “The event is free to attend for Goan delegates, exhibitors, media and students with disabilities from around the country. Moreover, all other delegates and exhibitors across the country will be required to pay a fee of Rs. 1000”.

“The registration form has two categories: individual and organisation. NGOs or institutions working in the field of disability, can get a 50 percent discount. Those who register under the organisation category with more than 10 participants will be charged Rs 500 each”, he added.

Phaldessai further informed that the registration link for ‘The Purple Fest’ would be disseminated on the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities’ social media sites and on the Commission’s website”.

Also present at the press conference were Guruprasad Pawaskar, the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities and Taha Haaziq, Secretary, Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.

Activities at Purple Fest:

Purple Think Tank – This will be a series of talks and discussions on inclusive education and employment across disability.

Purple Fun – This will be a cluster of various funful activities such as Blind Car Rally, Bird watching, visit to tourist destination such as beaches, temples and churches.

Purple Experience Zone – The experience zones would be a learning experience for specific group of people which shall be targeted to understand the life with disability through experiencing the advancements which would be explained.

Purple Exhibition – The exhibition area shall carry various stalls of latest aids and appliances, products made by persons with disabilities, live art camps and various fun activities.

Purple Rain – Various astonishing live performances by renowned artists, such as music concerts, dance performances, stand-up comedy etc.
