THERMAL BREAST CANCER SCREENING CAMP HELD AT SPARC HEALTHCARE CENTRE

The first thermal breast cancer screening camp was held at SPARC Healthcare Centre today. The camp was organised by Bhatikar Charitable Trust in association with Indian Medical Association-Bicholim; and was supported by Lupin Oncology, GOKARMA Oncology Association and Niramai Health Analytix Pvt Ltd; states a press release.

Around 100 ladies benefitted from this unique and accurate, automated, portable breast cancer screening device consisting of thermal camera and Artificial Intelligence-based reporting technology.

Dr Shekhar Salkar, Oncologist, inaugurated the medical camp in the presence of Dr Ketan Bhatikar, MD-SPARC, Priya Chari, Zilla Parishad member, Rajesh Kawlekar, ex-sarpanch, Sushant Kawlekar, Maria and other Social workers from Ponda.

Dr Salkar said that this is the first such kind of initiative that a no-touch, no- radiation and highly accurate thermal-based system is used to detect any abnormal conditions in breast including breast cancer.

Dr Salkar said that women are the backbone of a household and maintaining their dignity and health is of utmost importance. He added that women should come early to seek medical advice upon experiencing any health problems as early detection saves lives.

Dr Salkar lauded the efforts of the government for exemplary work in public health including DDSSY scheme which has benefitted numerous cancer patients.

Dr Ketan Bhatikar said that it gives him immense satisfaction as a medical professional to conduct such free camps for the public of Ponda, he mentioned that as a social worker he is committed to the wellness of fellow Goans and his organisation has conducted diverse healthcare initiatives in the past with common aim of improving health.
