PANAJI: Sanquelim Shuttlers will organise a two-day women’s doubles badminton tournament under the aegis of Goa Badminton Association (GBA), with the action beginning today evening at the multipurpose stadium, Sanquelim. According to GBA, 40 women badminton players from across Goa have registered to compete in this very exclusive women’s event.
After putting together a unique Sanquelim Badminton League event for Bicholim and Sattari taluka players recently, Sanquelim Shuttlers have now taken another bold step of bringing together state women shuttlers on the court for the doubles event. The executive committee led by Yeshwant Desai, president of Sanquelim Shuttlers, is working hard to reignite the spark and build momentum in the severely-hit badminton season.
“The aim of organising tournaments is to provide platforms for talented emerging players to showcase their skills and help them in providing exposure to more and more competitions which will ultimately help them to improve and improvise further in Badminton,” he said.
“We congratulate Sanquelim Shuttlers for taking the lead in partnering with GBA to organise this special women-centric event. Events like these can shape the future of women’s sports and have a very positive impact on the game,” stated Sandeep Heble, secretary of Goa Badminton Association.
