Neeza Kamat and Aaron Farias stole the show at the Ulhas Jewellers – BPS Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2024, held at the multipurpose stadium in Fatorda, achieving remarkable victories. Neeza Kamat emulated the historic feat previously achieved by Tanisi Kirtani, emerging as the star player of the season’s opening tournament by winning titles in the U15, U17, U19, and Women’s Singles categories. Aaron Farias was equally impressive, clinching titles in the U17, U19, and Men’s Singles categories. The tournament, organized under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association, also saw standout performances from other young talents. Among the boys, Yug Prabhu (U11), Chandan Caro (U13), and Atharv Dhulapkar (U15) secured titles, while in the girls’ section, Sachi Dessai (U11) and Ishita Colaso (U13) emerged victorious.
The finals results showcased a series of thrilling matches with exceptional skills on display. In the U11 Boys category, Yug Prabhu defeated Kavish Dalvi 3-0, and in the U13 Boys category, Chandan Caro triumphed over Dhruva Kamat 3-0. Atharv Dhulapkar won against Chandan Caro 3-0 in the U15 Boys category. Aaron Farias dominated the U17 and U19 Boys, defeating Chandan Caro and Rishan Shaikh 3-0, respectively, and later overcame Arvind Kumar 4-2 in the Men’s Singles. The Girls’ section saw Sachi Dessai and Ishita Colaso win the U11 and U13 titles, respectively. Neeza Kamat continued her stellar run, defeating Pradnya Caro in the U15 and U19 finals, and Ishita Colaco in the U17 and Women’s finals. The tournament also featured competitive matches in the Veterans Doubles and Veterans Doubles Elite categories, with Jesus D’Costa & Sanjot Sankalp and Ferdinand & Sameer Kapadi emerging as winners. In the Para Singles events, Chetan H Salgaonkar and Lloyd Fernandes claimed victories in the Standing and Wheelchair categories, respectively.
