UNION AGRICULTURE MINISTER SHIVRAJ SINGH CHOUHAN STRESSES ON IMPORTANCE OF NATURAL FARMING

Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan virtually addressed Swayampurna Mitras, Sarpanches, Panchas, farmers, and Self-help groups across Goa on Saturday, as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa 2.0 programme.

Chouhan emphasised the importance of natural farming and the development of agriculture, horticulture, and allied activities in Goa.

The Union Minister acknowledged the Government of Goa’s initiative to complement the Union Scheme of Interest Subvention on Agriculture Loans by extending the benefits under the State Government, effectively making farm loans interest-free in the state. Under the Swayampurna Goa mission, the Government of Goa is on the path to creating a record number of ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in the state.

Joining the programme, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant expressed confidence about Goa’s progress on the path of self-reliance.

“I am confident that with the continued guidance and support from the Union Government, the investments of the Government of Goa, and the cooperation and participation of all stakeholders, our focus on agriculture and rural development will undoubtedly lead us to our vision of a self-reliant, prosperous Goa.

“I sincerely thank the Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his insightful interaction at the Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swayampurna Goa programme. His address to the Swayampurna Mitras, Sarpanches, Panchas, Councilors, farmers, SHGs in 191 Village Panchayats, 14 Municipalities across the state, students of the Government College of Agriculture, and all stakeholders in allied activities was truly invaluable.

“Your words of appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the State Government, local bodies, farmers, and all stakeholders in the development of agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, and allied activities, including the creation of ‘Lakhpati Didis’ in the state, are deeply valued. We are grateful for your emphasis on the importance of natural farming and the Union Government’s continued support for the state which focuses on agriculture and rural development,” stated Dr Sawant.
