The much-anticipated 4th edition of the Ultimate Badminton League (UBL) is set to captivate Panaji
with two days of intense badminton action at the Indoor Stadium, Campal, on February 10 and 11, 2024.
Jointly-organised by the Goa Sports Club and Chicalim Badminton Club, under the aegis of the Goa Badminton Association (GBA), the 4th UBL promises to be a grand spectacle, raising the bar for competitive badminton.
Six formidable teams will compete for the prestigious UBL Trophy and a substantial cash prize pool of Rs 414,000. The player auctions, a pivotal prelude to the league, are scheduled for Sunday, January 7, featuring an impressive tally of 180 players vying for spots on the franchisee teams.
Among the participating teams are Team Sparkling Stars, led by playing team owner Yogiraj Kamat and captained by Karan Dhavaskar with Aditya Desai as vice-captain. Team Priority Titans, under the ownership of Dinesh Pai, will be captained by Ayaan Shaikh, with Meghal Kauthankar as vice-captain.
Vrushali Cardozo’s Team Asher’s Smashers will see Sanath Kamat as captain and Chinmay Kamat as vice-captain, while Team Ace Raqueteers, owned by Vikas Nanu, will have Navneet Nasnodkar as captain and Manish Pankhania as vice-captain. Team Flying Gravity, led by Achut Naik, boasts Sunny Sawant as captain and Aryman Saraf as vice-captain. Finally, Team Goan Rebels, owned by Praveen Shenoy, will see Floyd Araujo as captain and Mohammad Nadaf as vice-captain.
GBA Secretary Sandeep Heble will be the Independent Observer for the League, with Sudhir Desai taking on the role of the Auctioneer. The core organising committee, comprising individuals such as Praveen Shenoy, Aniket Redkar, Fredrick Fernandes, Wilfred Fernandes, Vivek Gawas, Yogiraj Kamat, Dinesh Pai, Vikas Nanu, and Kishor Bandekar, is dedicated to ensuring the success of the UBL.
