VIVO IPL PLAYER AUCTION 2021: VIRAT KOHLI’S RCB BUY GOA’S NEW BIG HOPE SUYASH PRABHUDESSAI

PANAJI: Goa’s 23-year-old all-rounder Suyash Prabhudessai has been bought by Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore for base price of Rs 20 lakh during the Vivo IPL Player Auction on Thursday.

Suyash, who made his debut for Goa in the 2018-19 season, has an impressive record in the T20s  with an average of 32.45 and strike rate of 148.13 across 17 matches. He has one century to his name in Ranji Trophy and an average of 43.90 in the longer format of the game in 16 matches where he has scored 922 runs so far.

When contacted by livenewsgoa.com, Suyash, who is originally from Shiroda but resides in Margao, was ecstatic with his big break to play under Kohli’s guidance. He vowed to give his best and learn as much as possible to bring glory to Goan cricket, thus setting an example for aspiring cricketers from the state.

Goan cricket fraternity is delighted with the positive development as a state cricketer will be seen again in the cash-rich IPL.

Director of coaching and cricket operations Prakash Mayenkar hailed Suyash as a fearless player.

“He was always there, one of the fine all-rounder, cricket can have. He is a fearless cricketer and has a good attitude towards cricket and life,” said Prakash, who is away in Surat with Goa squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Meanwhile, promising young all-rounder Deepraj Gaonkar was unlucky at the player auction as his name did not pop up to go under the hammer.
