YOUNG MEN’S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION TO ORGANISE 1ST ALL-INDIA INTER-YMCA FUTSAL TOURNAMENT IN PANAJI

The first edition of all-India inter-YMCA futsal tournament will be held from 27th to 29th August at Don Bosco Oratory premises, Panaji. YMCA Panjim and YMCA Bombay are jointly-organising the event, which is said to be supported by the All India Football Federation.

The hosts Goa’s YMCA will have two teams in the fray in the form of YMCA Panjim and YMCA Panjim Knights. In all, 15 teams from various parts of India have been grouped in four pools.

Pool A: YMCA Bombay, Madras, Tirupattur, Changanacherry. Pool B: YMCA Panjim, Patna, Chennai, Vellore. Pool C: YMCA Nongtalang, Gandhidham, Faridabad, Aizawl. Pool D: YMCA Trivandrum, Panjim Knights, New Bhedaghat.

The tournament details were announced at a press conference on Monday. Elvis Gomes, Chairman of the Organising Committee; Clyde Lobo, President of YMCA Panjim; Angelo Fernandes, Organising  Committee member; Adv Joseph Vaz, Board Member addressed the media. Sahil Costa Frias, and Prof Alvito da Silva – both board members, were also present.

Although the players are primarily the members of YMCA, the tournament is expected to have some entertaining tussles especially with lot expected from teams coming from Kerala and Mizoram, said Elvis Gomes. “We are getting Technical support from the AIFF,” added Clyde Lobo.
