Maharashtra will have a chance to bag a double team championship in 37th National Games badminton as their women’s team also made it to the final at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao Plateau on Friday. They thrashed hosts Goa 5-0 without dropping a single game.
Maharashtra will take on Assam in the women’s final after the latter booked the title berth with a 3-2 success over Andhra Pradesh in their last league match. Assam had tasted success in their opener yesterday against West Bengal.
Andhra Pradesh, who beat West Bengal on the opening day; and Punjab, who downed Goa, clinched bronze medals in the women’s category.
Over in the men’s team event – Uttarakhand defeated Delhi 3-2, while Assam beat hosts Goa 4-1. Both the winning teams finished in second place in respective groups and bagged Bronze medal each.
