PANAJI: TriGoa Foundation will organise ‘TriGoa State Borders 300kms BRM’ and ‘TriGoa Brevet Populaire 150kms’ rides on Sunday, December 6.
The 300km Brevets Randonneur Mondiaux (BRM) ride would take the cyclists through the heart of Goa and touch the state borders of Maharashtra and Karnataka, said Rajesh Malhotra, founder of TriGoa Foundation, which is an affiliate of Audax India Randonneurs (AIR) and conducts endurance rides of 200, 300, 400, 600, 1000 and 1200kms on behalf of the Audax Club Parisien (ACP), France. BRMs focus on self-sufficiency and camaraderie among the cyclists.
In a media release issued here on Tuesday, Malhotra said: “The route is picturesque over rolling hills and well paved surfaces. The cyclists will start in Panaji at 0600 hrs and cycle to the North Goa border check post at Dodamarg, from where they will take a U-turn and continue to the eastern border check post at Mollem and later head for the South Goa border check post at Pollem near Karwar. Cyclists will make their way back along the western coastline towards Dabolim Airport and via Old Goa back to Panaji before 0200 hrs in the morning the next day, to qualify for a medal from Audax Club Parisien in France.”
The TriGoa Brevet Populaire 150kms will also be held on the same day to give aspiring cyclists a chance to experience the international BRM format. The first half of the 150km route will be identical to the 300km BRM. However, the cyclists will take a U-turn from the Mollem check post and return to Panaji via Farmagudi and Old Goa.
