PANAJI: Goa Cricket Association’s director of coaching and cricket operations Prakash Mayenkar believes that the state team is on course to be fully prepared for the Elite challenge at the upcoming BCCI Ranji Trophy T20 competition. Goa open their campaign against hosts Madhya Pradesh on January 10 with the Group D matches set to be played under a bio bubble in Indore.
Speaking to livenewsgoa.com, Mayenkar asserted that Goa are one of the states to begin their preparations at the earliest possible stage in a pandemic-hit year. “Our preparations are going on very well and we will be playing more practice matches before leaving for the competition. Looking at the group where MP and Rajasthan are good sides, we feel we can win with good performances on a given day,” he said.
Goa under-23 batsman Ishan Gadekar has been one of the most impressive Ranji Trophy squad probables at the pre-season camp in progress at GCA academy at Porvorim. The big-hitting opener has made a solid case for inclusion in the touring side. Mayenkar was all praise for the strongly-built talented left-hander among others.
