The National Conclave on Financial Inclusion organised by Ministry of Rural Development in Goa, entered its second day at Miramar on Wednesday.

Former Additional Secretary, MoRD Government of India, Charanjeet Singh delivered a session on “Reflections on the Decade-long Journey and Future Directions of the Mission.”

He lauded NRLM’s 13-year journey, highlighting key innovations such as Enterprise Financing, establishment of over 4,000 SAKSHAM Centres, and strategic MoUs with banks.

Singh urged the states to take the lead by formulating tailored plans to enhance credit access, skilling, and financial inclusion. He also offered valuable insights on the evolving priorities and the future direction of the Mission.

In another compelling session, a 9-member team from Asian Development Bank shared insights from an ongoing study on Insurance & Social Security. The team highlighted gaps between social protection tools and rural realities, where households face layered risks- life cycle, financial, health & climate. The study urges alignment of interventions with community-specific vulnerabilities.

The conclave is driving discussions on bridging these gaps and creating integrated solutions for rural resilience.
