Reaffirming its commitment to education and youth empowerment, Vedanta Sesa Goa – Iron Ore Goa (IOG) as part of Project ‘Vriddhi’, organised the Vedanta ‘Utkarsh’ Scholarship Programme for FY 2025–26 at Bicholim. The initiative supports meritorious students from mining & rural communities in pursuing higher education. As part of the programme, 30 students from villages in Bicholim Taluka were felicitated and extended support through the Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarship.
The programme, conducted at Bicholim Municipality Hall was graced by Shridevi B. V., IPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bicholim, along with Vijay Natekar, Chairperson, Bicholim Municipality Council, Dhirajkumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO – Iron Ore Goa, and Santosh Mandrekar, Head Operations – North & Central Cluster.
Speaking on the occasion, Shridevi B.V, IPS, Dy SP, Bicholim said, “When organisations invest in education, they invest in nation-building. The Vedanta ‘Utkarsh Scholarship’ is a meaningful intervention that empowers students to rise above limitations and pursue their aspirations with confidence and discipline.”
Vijay Natekar, Chairperson, Bicholim Municipal Council, expressed his thoughts and said, “Sustained support for education is essential for the progress of our communities. Vedanta Sesa Goa’s consistent community development initiatives are creating opportunities for deserving students and strengthening the social fabric of the region.”
Dhirajkumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO – IOG, reflected on the development, “Education plays a critical role in transforming lives and communities. This initiative furthers our commitment to ‘giving back’ meaningfully for a prosperous future.”
Expressing her gratitude, scholarship recipient Sadiya Choudhary, B.COM Student, Narayan Zantye College of Commerce said, “In order to support my education, I had been conducting tuition classes for school students alongside my studies. The Vedanta ‘Utkarsh’ Scholarship has considerably eased the financial burden & allows be tp responsibility on my family and has enabled me to devote greater focus to my higher education. I sincerely thank Vedanta Sesa Goa for extending this support to students from our region.”
Till date, the Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarship has benefitted over 1,200 students across Sesa Goa operations. Vedanta Sesa Goa’s initiatives as part of Project ‘Vriddhi’ continue to reinforce its long-term commitment to education the company remains focused on enabling inclusive growth and creating lasting socio-economic value for the communities it operates in.
