DRISHTI MARINE: LIFESAVING AGENCY ISSUES REMINDER ABOUT BEACH SAFETY DURING GOA MONSOONS

Even as the monsoon has set in and Goa’s beaches remain closed for swimming, with risk-prone coastal areas declared off limits, Drishti Marine lifesavers rushed to the rescue of a 42-year-old visitor from Tamil Nadu who sustained injuries after slipping on slippery rocks at Galgibag beach.

The man reportedly lost his footing while walking across an unsafe rocky stretch near the beach, injuring his left leg on the sharp rocks. On-duty Drishti Marine lifesavers responded immediately, administered first aid at the scene and ensured the injured visitor received timely assistance.

With rough seas, strong currents and slippery coastal terrain posing significant risks during the monsoon, Drishti Marine has deployed more than 450 trained lifesavers and beach marshals across Goa’s major beaches, waterfalls and four inland water bodies to respond to emergencies and assist visitors.

The agency has reiterated its appeal to residents and tourists to avoid entering the sea, stay away from rocky stretches, cliffs and other hazardous coastal areas and strictly adhere to red flags, warning signage and the instructions of lifesavers on duty. Visitors are urged to exercise caution throughout the monsoon season, as changing weather conditions and slippery surfaces can lead to serious accidents even outside the water.
