Central Railways women and Army (Red) men emerged champions at the DBO Panjim Silver Jubilee Basketball Tournament at the refurbished indoor court on Sunday. The tournament was initiated by Goa Guardians, a PVL franchise.
Army Red team clinched a thrilling 71-70 victory over Pune Customs in the men’s final. Central Railways edged past Goa Guardians 76-67 in the women’s final. Gautam of Army Red and Riya of Goa Guardians were named the Players of the Tournament respectively.
In the men’s semi-finals on Saturday, Army Red team got the better of Lourdes Basketball Club while Pune Customs beat Falcons. The women’s last-four stage witnessed a thrilling win for Goa Guardians over PYC Pune; and Central Railways overcoming the challenge of Lourdes.
