Anaya Shukla, Vanlalrhuitpuii, Claire George and Shaurya Dessai advanced to the Girls U11 semifinals, on the opening day of the Priority Gaspar Dias Open All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar, on Tuesday. In the U11 quarterfinals, Anaya defeated Tasha Mascarenhas 3-0, Vanlalrhuitpuii beat Swara Gude 3-0, Claire overcame Tvisha Kotkar 3-1 and Shaurya defeated Sanaz Shaikh 3-1.
In the U9 quarterfinals, Hanishka Chonkar beat Lauryn Gomes Barreto 3-1, Ronisha Sakhardande defeated Lara De Souza 3-0, Spruha Kamat edged past Swara Gude 3-2, while Claire George progressed to the semi finals by bye.
Earlier, the tournament, being held in the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association, was inaugurated by Sindhura Nachinolkar of Group Priority, along with Tanmay Kholkar of Manas Developers, Edwin Menezes, Joint Secretary, Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Vinesh Pikle, Club Treasurer, and Sairaj Dhond, Sports Cell Chairman, among others. The tournament features leading young table tennis players from across Goa competing for Major Ranking points.
