RESPONSIBLE CIVIC BEHAVIOUR KEY TO BUILDING VIKSIT BHARAT, SAYS KONKAN RAILWAY’S ASHA SHETTY

Emphasising that the vision of a developed India can be realised only through the collective responsibility of its citizens, said Asha Shetty, Regional Railway Manager, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited. She was speaking after inaugurating the five-day multimedia exhibition ‘Meri Zimmedari, Mera Viksit Bharat’ being organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Goa, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, in collaboration with the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) at Madgaon Railway Station.

The exhibition will remain open to the public from September 8 to 12.
Being held at Madgaon Railway Station, a major public transit point, the exhibition seeks to reach a wide cross-section of commuters, visitors and members of the public. Through engaging visual displays and multimedia content, it highlights how simple, responsible actions by individuals in public spaces can contribute to the larger vision of a Viksit Bharat.

Addressing the gathering, Asha Shetty said that development is not the responsibility of the government alone and that citizens have an equally important role to play. Responsible use of public spaces, cleanliness, civic discipline and respect for public property are among the everyday actions through which citizens can contribute to nation-building, she said.

Nana Meshram, Director, Press Information Bureau, Goa, said that railway stations are shared public spaces and responsible behaviour by passengers and citizens is essential for maintaining cleanliness, safety and a pleasant environment. He appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of creating greater awareness among the public through engaging communication. He also spoke about importance of communication initiatives in bringing the message of responsible citizenship closer to the people.

The inaugural programme also included prize distribution for competitions organised as part of the exhibition. Yash Mishra, Divisional Security Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, Madgaon; Enayat Hussain, Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited; Thobias C K, Senior Station Manager, Madgaon Railway Station; and Riyas Babu, Publicity Officer, CBC Goa, were present at the program along with officials of CBC Goa, PIB Goa, and Konkan Railway.

The exhibition will be open to the public at Madgaon Railway Station from September 8 to 12, 2026, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the multimedia displays and understand how individual responsibility and everyday civic actions can collectively contribute to building a cleaner, safer and more developed India.

The campaign has been envisaged as an awareness and behavioural-change initiative aimed at encouraging citizens to recognise their responsibility towards society and the nation. The exhibition uses multimedia presentations, visual displays and interactive elements to communicate the message of responsible citizenship in an accessible manner.
