PANAJI: Abhir Prabhu and Vaishnavi Parab won all-Goa U-11 Open and Girls state chess championship 2022 respectively. In all, 128 players participated in the tournament.
The tournament was organised by Lions Club of Ponda and Ponda Taluka Chess Association (P.T.C.A.) under the auspices of Goa Chess Ad-Hoc Committee at Wagle High school, Mangeshi.
In the U-11 open category – Sachit Pai, Shubh Borkar, Saras Powar, Rajveer Patil and Hriday Morajkar secured 2nd to 6th place respectively.
In the U-11 girls category – Rachel Pereira, Shrivalli Gandhi, Jennica Sequeira, Saeeja Dessai and Shrama Morudkar secured 2nd to 6th place respectively.
Best among U-9: Aaryavrat Desai, Ekang Malvankar, Diya Sawal and Rochel Pereira.
Best among U-7: Aryan Naik, Ravinsh Kamat, Tvisha Dessai and Avani Sawaikar
The certificates and trophies were presented by chief guest Suggala Yelamali (District Governor, Lions District 317B), Sachin Arolkar (Convenor, Goa Chess Ad-Hoc committee), Sagar Sakordekar (President, P.T.C.A.), Amogh Namshiker (Secretary, P.T.C.A.), Ramkrishna Naik (President, Lions Club of Ponda), Chandan Naik (Secretary, Lions Club of Ponda) and Chief Arbiter Arvind Mhamal.
