PANAJI: Advait Balakrishnan won a double crown while Nishant Shenai and Janhavi Mahale won the Junior (U-19) Singles titles, at the All-Goa Major Ranking Badminton Tournament held at Indoor stadium, Campal, here.
Advait Balakrishnan upset top seed Aarush Pawaskar to win the boys U-13 title in the season’s first ranking tournament organised by Sunlite Sports and Cultural Club in collaboration with the Goa Badminton Association (GBA).
Advait later teamed up with Parasmay Shenoy to lift the U-13 boys doubles title. Harsh Mane and Sakshi K emerged winners in U-15 boys and girls section respectively while Anish Kamath and Nidhi Desai walked away with the singles titles in U-17 age group.
Ritika Chelluri emerged winner in U-13 girls section. The tournament, powered by Adidas Badminton and Parama Heartbeat Sports had more than 350 entries with 200+ players participating with a prizemoney of Rs 1 lakh on offer.
Richard Vaz, GBA ex-President, along with tournament committee organisers Rupchandra Humaraskar (President), Arnold Rodrigues (Secretary), Bhushan Vernekar (Treasurer), GBA officials Narahar Thakur (President), Sandeep Heble (Secretary), and Kashinath Jalmi (veteran badminton player) graced the finals.
