BABETTE’S FEAST: FIRST DANISH FILM EVER TO WIN AN OSCAR TO BE SCREENED AT CINEPHILE FILM CLUB OF GOA

PANAJI: Cinephile Film Club of Entertainment Society of Goa, will screen Danish film ‘Babette’s Feast’ on Thursday (6th January) at 6.30 pm; at Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Building, here.

Sachin Chatte will host the screening of Babette’s Feast (1987), which won the Oscar for the Best Foreign Film that year. The details are as given below.

The first Danish film ever to win an Oscar, Pope Francis called Babette’s Feast his favorite film.

Based on a popular short story of the same name, the film is about Babette, a political refugee from Paris. She works for free as a housekeeper and cool, in a small village, for two elderly sisters. A large part of the film dwells on Babette’s efforts to throw a lavish feast for the sisters and the congregation, after winning a lottery.

All prevailing SOP’s will be implemented for the screening, including entry only for those who are fully vaccinated.

The membership for the film club (valid till March 2023), will start online on 6th January 2022 at http://www.esg.co.in and registration can be done at the venue as well.
